“Here’s to the four hinges of friendship,
Swearing, Lying, Stealing and Drinking.
When you swear, swear by your country;
When you lie, lie for a pretty woman;
When you steal, steal away from bad company;
And when you drink, drink with me.”-Gus Melbourne as printed in
“The World’s Drinks and How to Mix Them”

I think I heard this (or something similar) in a movie and kind of rolled my eyes. . .
I still prefer:
Here’s to you, here’s to me; best of friends we’ll always be. . .
if by chance we disagree – DISH YOU and here’s to me.
