I’ve been waiting for Portland Cocktail Week and the Great American Distillers Festival ever since I stumbled into an Oregon Bartender’s Guild meeting back in June, where I met the lovely Allison Webber, founder of the Portland chapter of LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails).
Allison just sent word that LUPEC PDX will be hosting a masquerade ball at the World Forestry Center to raise money to protect the local flora and fauna, which is also the theme of the event, so make suggestions in the comments to help me decide which plant or animal I should dress up as. The current front-runner costume concept is “Party Animal” with a lampshade headpiece.
As a special treat, ladies of LUPEC from across the nation will be in attendance, each sporting a dance card from which a waltz, tango or macarena can be purchased for a suggested starting donation of $20.
Hey! Portland may be known for lap dances, but it’s not that kind of event … I think.
What: black tie optional Masquerade Ball
When: Thursday October 21st, 8:30 to midnight
Where: World Forestry Center in Portland
Why: to preserve Oregon’s incredible wildlife
How Much: $40
This sounds like an event right up my alley.
